DISCUSSION for Sunday's shows!

Discussion Place for:

Two New Shows coming up on Sunday!

Sister Wives on the Strip

The Sister Wives get makeovers and head to the strip for a night on the town while Kody stays home to babysit all the kids. How will they react when they come face to face with all the "adult" entertainment Vegas has to offer?

Kody Climbs Into the Ring
Kody heads for the Vegas strip for a guy's night out on the town, testing his wrestling skills against a mixed martial arts fighter and answering his friends' questions about his lifestyle. Meanwhile, the wives help setup Robyn's new nursery.

  1. Although these are so OBVIOUSLY SCRIPTED, I will enjoy the girls being judgmental, just so I can scream hypocrite! They don't want to be judged. They call anyone else a shark. Interesting.

Why do they think that in the eyes of the lord, a gal dancing in a bikini is worse than screwing a married man and having illegitimate children?

  2. I can't wait! Looks like 2 good ones! Even better....2 reviews from the Jinx!

    ReplyDelete
  3. I forgot to say (sorry for 2 posts)

Lourdes may have something to say too!

    ReplyDelete
  4. What did they really expect moving to Vegas anyway, odd choice for laying low. Also very classy for the Darger Dad to say,"Well we aren't running to Vegas." Owww

    ReplyDelete
  5. Two episodes in one week? Excellent!

Does anyone know how much longer this season of the show is supposed to continue for...and whether or not there is word of a season 4?

Unrelated- I just rewatched a show from the first season 1. Kody needs a haircut.

    ReplyDelete
  6. Love the posts. You all have made this so fun....I also agree, what do you expect relocating to Vegas. And I guess all the reality shows sound scripted but this one is still so much fun. They actually must have time to review some of what they say, which makes even goofier. If it is scripted and they still have trouble communicating, can you imagine them in person. Wonder what the vibe is in the neighborhood after the newness wore off.
I chuckled at the unawareness of entertainment that would be advertised in Vegas. You see bizarre billboards and also Vegas is not a surprise destination. So am not seeing how they are shocked to find pole dancing and servers with fruit on their heads and the theme casinos......Makeovers may be something they would enjoy. I agree with whoever noted the make up on the last talk show did them no favors.

    ReplyDelete
  7. I agree with What do I know, I lived in Vegas.

They have vacationed there several times. Not so shocking. I can't wait for tonight. Someone please let us know how the show is going!!

    ReplyDelete
  8. They are so worried about paying bills? They have joined a gym and go on a girls and guys night out? And all the furniture they purchased. Can't be that broke! And they certainly aren't lacking food, even some of the kids are obess. And, would the women please stop with layering tops! I'm sure they are making $'s being on TLC!

    ReplyDelete
  9. How do you live "low key" and be on TV? I think they are exhibitionists. They love the notoriety or Kody is very much in control. Wake up ladies! This is not a normal life!

    ReplyDelete
  10. Anony 10:15 - not to worry. Remember it's just a script they're following. yes, they get paid for being on the show and yes, all the stuff you see that's part of the show - gym membership, shopping trips, eating out, Christine's blow up pool, room makeovers, etc. is paid for by TLC (advertising sponsors.)

  11. Everyone seemd soo happy for Christine coming off the meds, except Meri. She seemed to be glaring at her. The look was almost as bad as the look she had on when Christine was talking about getting the watches.

    ReplyDelete
  12. Oh, and I bet one of the many reasons why Christine was having attacks was because of seeing things like Kody and Robyn making out while she was in labor!!!

    ReplyDelete
  13. I Love the show!! Awesome

    ReplyDelete
  14. Some of the looks on the sister wives' faces when another is talking have been interesting ... I liked to see Janelle being really happy for Christine about being able to reduce her medicine. They talk about how they are supposed to have these great relationships with each other as well, but it hasn't really been coming across in the show much lately. I thought Janelle's reaction was a genuine flash of that friendship they talk about. (Side note: When Janelle was doing yoga, did she say she likes to do it in the morning before work? Did she get a job?) When Meri was talking about feeling stressed, the rest of them just had kind of blank faces. Maybe thinking, hey, we're all stressed. (?)

    ReplyDelete
  15. To all you Robyn bashers out there. How do you feel now? knowing she never had a crib for any of her babies cuz there wasnt enough money or room. Thats sad. Just about every mother in america at least gets a crib for her baby.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Was she having Panic Attacks?
If so, Why would Meri care if she was on meds?

    ReplyDelete
  17. Anonymous said..." To all you Robyn bashers out there. How do you feel now? knowing she never had a crib for any of her babies cuz there wasnt enough money or room. "

Then maybe, just maybe, she should of A. Worked, or B. not had 3 kids.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Good heavens, I hope that Robyn and Kody don't have anymore kids. Please! I was hopeful when Robyn said it wasn't a sure thing they would have another.

    ReplyDelete
  19. I noticed that Janelle said something about doing yoga before work, I don't remember her mentioning getting a job before.

I feel bad for the teenage daughters. I watched a clip from the first season a few days ago and there has been very noticeable weight gain in Mariah, Mykelti, and especially Aspyn. I imagine that stress is playing a role in their weight as well.

I didn't think that Robyn was quite as annoying tonight but it drives me crazy when they keep talking about the fundamentalist mormons and how different they are from their religion, but they never talk about what their religion is. The strange thing is that I've heard Kody and a few of the wives state that they are in the Fundamentalist Mormon church. I don't think they even know what they believe.

I feel so bad for Dayton, I work with children with Aspergers' and change is the main thing that really stresses them out. I get so angry when I see him on this show because I can't help but think that Robyn is being so selfish, putting her needs above her son. I have only seen her interact with him once on this show and that was when he broke her picture frame.

I agree that there is definite tension between Meri and Christine. I have never noticed it as much until this episode. Meri definitely bottles up her feelings.

I also was surprised at how much Christine was flirting with Bill. I think she craves attention and when he gave it to her, she loved it.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Robyn's reference to not ever having had a crib for her babies was simply just another poorly-disguised attempt (in an endless string of little grenades) to bash her former husband (and garner more sympathy for herself). Oh, poor Robyn!!
    Um, yeah. Whatever.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Yeah I heard Janelle say that too, about work. Would like to hear if she has a job or was she referring to Liv stuff?

Oh I didn't catch Meri's face when Christine was talking about being off meds. You guys have good eyes!
I did see Janelle get excited for Christine, so once again we have two separate teams here:
    Team Christine/Janelle
    and
    Team Meri/Robyn

    ----
I don't like Robyn. But I did feel very bad for her saying she had never had a crib. If that is true then that really stinks.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Cry me a River, Robyn. I you had told your church and they wouldn't help, then hmmmmm

    ReplyDelete
  23. Then she shouldn't had custody of those KIDS i she couldn't provide that.

    ReplyDelete
  24. What? Don't they sell cribs at Victoria's Secret? Didn't Robyn have a $1000 credit card bill for Victoria's Secret?

    ReplyDelete
  25. ---To all you Robyn bashers out there. How do you feel now? knowing she never had a crib for any of her babies cuz there wasnt enough money or room. Thats sad. Just about every mother in america at least gets a crib for her baby---

Actually, there are lots of babies in America that don't have cribs or anything else. Sometimes not even a roof over their head. Lots of single Moms on welfare because working won't pay the child care cost.

Robin and Kody have gone out of their way in the last few episodes to insult Robin's ex on camera. I'd be willing to bet that will come back and bite her in a court of law.

Her financial situation right now is better only due to the show. If that is taken away by some sort of legal challenge, she won't be any better of than she was, but she'll have another baby to take care of. And, if that same legal challenge forces her to be independent of Kody, she won't have Janelle's paycheck to support her.

    ReplyDelete
  26. A crib isn't a necessity. I had a crib, but never used it with 2 of my kids. They survived and in fact are thriving.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Meri Hates Christine! we can all see it. Why?

    ReplyDelete
  28. sorry, but Robyn has lied and is very manipulative and has no credibility w/me with any sob story she comes up with now.

and if it is true - which part? no money or no room? because you can borrow a crib from your church members or get one pretty dang cheap at a garage sale. and was her mom and dad broke too to not buy one at a garage sale for her. sorry, but as usual, her "sob stories' always leave me with more questions cause they never add up. she's first and foremost very needy for attention and is very manipulative in getting it.

    ReplyDelete
  29. I don't believe for one MINUTE that Robyn had 3 kids and NO crib. She has a large family, lots of parents, and I think this is another throw the ex under the bus thing also.
Or, Kody is her hero. That is not saying much about her getting off her pretty ass and working. It's her JOB too to provide.

    ReplyDelete
  30. "Anonymous said..." To all you Robyn bashers out there. How do you feel now? knowing she never had a crib for any of her babies cuz there wasnt enough money or room. "

Don't those Fundy Mormons take care of each other? Has she no friends? Why have more?
She is a pathetic, lazy winch. If they didn't have any money, she needed to look in the mirror, and not spend $40,000, yes, Over $1000 on VS- on stupid stuff and buy a damn crib!

    ReplyDelete
  31. What kind of a church does Robyn belong to that she had no friends nor church help to obtain a crib? i thought they all supported each other and helped each other. it's the Christian thing to do.

And we're supposed to believe that ALL 3 times NO ONE ever came through for her? yeah, ok.

It would be SOOOOOO interesting to hear what her ex's and church friends stories are in dealing with her for years.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Hah! forgot about her VS bill!! but i guess she didn't have the money for that either since she made them eat it in her bankruptcy. again, no credibility.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Yes it would!
Why does Robyn take no blame for their living conditions... seems like she had plenty of clothes....and with that hopping credit card debt proven to be ALL hers, the judge made HER pay it, she could have.
BTW, she never paid the bills, she filed bankruptcy.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Wow. I just rewatched both of tonight's episodes (as I always do :)You pick up on all the missed commentary, body language, etc. ) and noted that Robyn followed the string of crib comments with a reference to how great it has been to have a supportive husband, and how that "is new" to her. WOW. Keep it classy, Robyn.

And tell me she's not just throwing grenades at her former husband?!? Manipulative is the understatement of the year. I'm a Christian, but I'm not thinking very "Christian-like" thoughts about Robyn right now!

    ReplyDelete
  35. hahahah anony12:08 we think alike!

    ReplyDelete
  36. Meri hates Christine cause she's as annoying and immature as Kody but she's blind to Kody's because he's her first and only love. She purposely picked Robyn cause she instinctively knew (as women do) that she would get under Christine's skin and Christine wouldn't feel "special" any more like she had for 17 years before. Meri's passive/aggressive in her stuffed anger.

Just imagine that even if you really really like another woman friend but you still don't want them sleeping with your husband. Now imagine that feeling a million times over when it's someone you don't like sleeping with him. and the added frustration of accepting it as being required from God. very dysfunctional way to have to live.

    ReplyDelete
  37. High stress levels, panic attacks, depression, morbid obesity...seems like the heavenly lifestyle is catching up with the ladies. It's actually sad to watch-

    ReplyDelete
  38. HAH! another great selling point for polygamy. "I had to go on anti-depressants cause my husband was bringing a new wife in."

I swear that's where Meri's fast weight gain came from, too. Probably from added depression of Robyn giving Kody another kid that she couldn't do.

it's seriously sad these women are so brainwashed that this is what God requires.

    ReplyDelete
  39. These showes ARE NOT SCRIPTED! If they were, there would be writers in the credits. My god, people.

Frankly, Robing debt none of anyone's concern. It DOESN'T EFFECT YOU!

    ReplyDelete
  40. ok ..you can't possibly go to the gym on a daily basis or even once a week and not lose. And I don't buy the Yoga every morning and not losing weight part. These women are stuffing themselves with pastry, starches, salty snacks...how bout keeping carrots, celery, yogurt to eat and snack on...would help those chubby kids out too if there wasn't so many bad choice of foods in pantry and refrig. Scales don't lie. They aren't dieting just wasting the trainers time in the gym which is part of act to get their business going.

    ReplyDelete
  41. I'm confused. I thought they were going in to real estate and then I watched tonight and suddenly they are in the fitness business? HELP! What happened to Mona, the real estate woman, and all the plans they had for this? I was shocked to the max over this new development.

    ReplyDelete
  42. These people don't seem to know right from wrong,up from down. They contradict themselves constantly. Why would anyone believe half of what they say? They are on TV and I think have really realized just how much money they can make doing this program. Personally I think the older three women are so stressed because they can't take the audiences comments and they are starting to believe that the world thinks they are all nuts!

    ReplyDelete
  43. Question: Has anyone heard of renewal for Season 4?

I am looking forward to CJ's review because it is always entertaining. And undoubtedly will far surpass these two episodes. I found both episodes hideously boring. It's really the same old, same old.

I am so tired of them talking about how they are different from this religion or that part of this religion and yet they never address their religion. I am so tired of them talking or rather not talking about sex. Kody made mention of not answering questions about it to his friends (and really, his new BFF is the trainer?) This is my point: I don't think anyone thinks it is about the sex wholly. For Kody, maybe, but I think there is much more - he has virtually no responsibility because he has 4 woman to take care of him and 4 woman who believe he is some sort of supreme being. For the women, obviously it is not. They only stand to get 25% of a whole relationship and they are agreeable to it.

My long winded point is this. I could care less what their sleeping arrangements are, they are consenting adults. I don't know why they believe that everyone is interested in their sleeping arrangements. They continually miss the point that most people are upset about their actions - such as using the welfare system, fleeing imaginary threats, and filing frivilous lawsuits.

    ReplyDelete
  44. I say throw them off TV. Let them go back to their miserable lives. Maybe they could use their me time to care for their poor kids. They are profiting money wise but not as parents. Imagine the stress these kids are under. Where is child protective services?

    ReplyDelete
  45. WOW ! i forget there's really people who naively believe "reality" shows aren't scripted!! because there's no "writers in the credits!" LOL LOL LOL

And YES, THEIR BANKRUPTCIES DO AFFECT ME!!! they affect ALL OF US!! it's economics 101. Stores have to pass the cost of not being paid for their merchandise whether it be from shoplifting loss or bankruptcy loss on to the rest of us honest paying citizens.

Sorry to bring you so harshly into the real world of REALITY! (something Troy Bowles or Doris would say! ❤ )

    ReplyDelete
  46. Robyn - still eyeball rolling about being a Mom to all those awful trying teens that don't kiss her butt anymore. "they'll thank us when they get older." Don't hold your breath for that thanks, Robyn. Once their "frontal lobes are fully developed" they'll finally quit eyeball rolling about you every time you try to parent them and finally tell you to "STFU and go to your room if you're going to cry about it!!"

I loved it when Kody asked her about not having a baby crib and she said, "PROBABLY cause there wasn't money or wasn't enough room." Hmmm..... 3 babies and still doesn't know FOR SURE why she never had a crib. Thanks to Janelle and the other 2 wives tho, Kody could proudly state back, "ALL my babies had cribs." Those 2 sound like a couple of 6 year olds playing house.

    ReplyDelete
  47. I agree with boston corgi - the stresses of this "lifestyle" seem to be catching up with the women.

Usually I am not a Christine fan but i couldn't help but feel very empathetic and saddened for her watching this episode. Post-partem is a terrible thing for even monogamous women to go through with the full support of their husband - I can't imagine how depressing it would have been to go through it at the exact time your husband is in the honeymoon stages with a new, younger wife.

VERY interesting how Janelle was the only wife who seemed to show ANY positive emotion when Christine revealed she was halving her meds.

And no Kodouche - a $40 watch with some "blingy" bands is not going to take her "blues" away. Maybe that would work on Robyn ...

My new fantasy storyline: Christine runs off with Bill the Bodybuilder

    ReplyDelete
  48. imo - Janelle's the only one who was happy for Christine because Robyn knows she's the cause for Christine to go on them. Christine said she get postpartum depression after a baby (which is very common - known as the baby blues) but it's a temporary condition while your hormones are re-establishing to normalcy. So, this is the first time she's had to go on an anti-depressant and what was the difference? As Christine stated, "cause it created a lot of stress of my husband taking on a new wife and having to move (because of the new wife my husband took on in order to have this show!)

And Meri looked pissed cause in spite of it all, she's on them too and doesn't think she should be since she wanted Robyn to join the family and has to admit inside that it was a horrible decision and has bit her in the butt bigtime. But she can't admit that out loud to anyone. Maybe there's some real guilt feelings too on her part watching what she's actually done to contribute to Christine's emotional health and happiness.

Anyway, since Janelle has always seemed so detached from any love chemistry w/Kody - she's the least affected in that dept. BUT it looks like she's thrown the towel in and is NO LONGER going to be primary breadwinner. She's decided the rest of the capable adults are gonna have to tend to their kids PLUS get off their butts and bring some stable longterm cash in to pay for all this chaos they've all created.

I think in "true reality" Meri and Mariah are the only two that are going to be rocking Robyn's baby for her. They're the only two that are baby hungry out of the whole bunch. We may see some b.s. script tho of how everyone just LOVES King Solomon and fights to hold him and rock him. That was never shown w/Baby Truely and the teens even like Christine!

Did anyone notice that both times they showed a child crying in Kody's night, they were Robyn's two girls? All the other kids have got to be So SICK of the constant tears from Robyn plus her two girls. The emotionally needy cycle continues....

    ReplyDelete
  49. oh and BETS anyone on that Robyn will now come up with debilitating postpartum depression that won't require her to go on meds but will require her to farm her kids out to the other wives while she keeps King Solomon and Kody there with her to get through it?

    ReplyDelete
  50. I've been busy trying to figure out what I need to buy/run. I shop at our local grocery store, I'm going to the densist next week, I get iced tea at McDonald's- so many business opportunites!

My thought was they really want everyone to hate Solomon. The other kids live in kiddie barracks. Truely shared a room with Christine, but Solomon gets a welcome center.

I never pay attention when whiners talk about what they didn't have. Robyn-crib. There is usually another side to the story like a $1000 Victoria Secret acct. I will not judge Robyn's ex since he hasn't had a chance to defend himself.

    ReplyDelete
  51. I personally liked it when the trainer asked Kody if Christine busted his balls all the time too!The look on the Kodsters face was priceless. Nice little dig from another guy. I about spit out my drink when that happened.

Postpartum depression is not the same thing as the baby blues. The baby blues are mild and do not require medication. PPD is much more severe and serious and usually requires medication. I had full-blown PPD after my first baby that required medication. With my second child, I had the baby blues which lasted a few days and required no medication.

I'm not a huge fan of Christine, but I can't imagine suffering through PPD while watching my husband with another woman.

Shame on Kody and Robyn for kissing while Christine was in labor. I'm sure that did't help matters once she found out about it.

  53. Ok, what kind of Fitness trainer would think going into FITNESS business with 3 women who are not only completely out of shape (at least one being morbidly obese), but cannot lose 20 lbs between them in SIXTY days? Holy shit, people who are Janelle's size lose weight pretty fast, at least initially, when they make even a half ass attempt at a lifestyle change.

Raise your hands if you would choose a gym where none of the owners were successful in getting fit. A gym where the the only professional (the personal trainer) couldn't even help them lose weight, even when they had the incentive of being humiliated on national TV.

I don't know how these people say this shit with a straight face.

And one last thought- Janelle cannot go more than 3 minutes on the treadmill? She should be considering gastric bypass before she ends up needing a triple bypass. (I'm not even being snarky, that is just sad and scary)

    ReplyDelete
  54. Wendy, I agree!

I would NEVER choose a fitness trainer who had so little success with his clients. It's really sad to see the Browns trying to use this as a business opportunity.

I get that a family business makes the most sense for them in their current situation. I don't think a fitness business was the way to go.

I commend the Browns for at least trying to do something to provide for themselves in preparation for when TLC dumps them, but they need to pick something they have a true interest in and are good at. They are obviously not good at "fitness".

    ReplyDelete
  55. KodysLexus JanellesJalopyNovember 21, 2011 at 12:35 PM

Christine lost 4 pounds in 60 days, so the Browns are going to open a gym.

    Following that logic.....

-I took a chemistry class in High School, so i am going to open a pharmacy.

    - I have saved money, and taken out a mortgage, so I am going to open a bank.

    - I shop at the super market at least twice a week and clip coupons, so I am going to open a super market of my own.

Kody was so proud of himself for helping Dayton with his homework (you know, when he sent him to a quiet room upstairs...I guess that qualifies as help), and they toured some Ivy League schools, why not open an Ivy League school and call it Brown University? What?!? They already have one of those? OK...better call it Brown Family University...specializing in Economics!

  56. I prefer listening when they are interviewing the teens. At least I feel we are hearing the truth. As the weeks go on we seem to be getting more boohooing/tears from the adults on the couch. Robyn is always tring to appear "cool" with her little saying and jestures. This last episode Janelle was nicely dressed with a nice top, long skirt and necklace. I think she's starting to take an interest in how she appears. The rest have just ballooned. Maybe Janelle is starting to break away from all the bull. How come when one is all teary, no one reaches across to comfort them? Cause they are all jealous of each other? Very sad situation for those poor teens. What
do they have to endure at school?

    ReplyDelete
  57. I'm ROFLMAO at the idea that these shows aren't scripted. Yeah, ok. Thanks for the heads-up.

    ReplyDelete
  58. To Anon 1:23 who said -

"These showes ARE NOT SCRIPTED! If they were, there would be writers in the credits. "

Reality shows ARE scripted. They get around the Writers Union (and their salary requirements) by claiming they have no writers.

But each and every Reality Show is scripted, down to the last detail. The Duggars even admit it on their show.

All the interviews, events, and tons of the dialogue is programmed by the producers. There are even "organizers" who work out the central theme of each episode and what conflicts will be sparked, which will be resolved. Since they aren't technically writing a story, they aren't called writers and the show doesn't have to pay writers' scale wage.

Want an education? Look up the legal suits that the Writer's Union is bringing against reality shows. Get your mind blown by the amount of scripting that goes on in the Reality world.

Oh, if Robyn didn't want her debt (to Victoria's Secret rather than a baby store) discussed, she shouldn't have joined a TV show. Public exposure means scrutiny. Even someone of Robyn's limited intelligence should be aware of this.

    ReplyDelete
  59. If they r scripted u still need the puppet's mouth! They r getting PAID and that's all these Brown's care about. Why don't they care as much for their children!

    ReplyDelete
  60. I am currently on my own weight loss journey. (Embarrassingly for me, yes, like amounts the Sister Wives want to/need to lose.) I personally thought that Janelle's results were pretty normal. It was at a sustainable rate, if her focus is a genuine lifestyle change, and not just losing weight fast.

I thought it was sad that the focus from the trainer seemed to be on that she "only" lost 10, not 20, and that she felt she couldn't celebrate the changes she has made. I thought Bill should be helping them set realistic goals to set them up for success, not feeling like they (Janelle, at least) failed. I wonder if they talk about food/nutrition, or if it's just about the exercise. Because nutrition is a really big part of it.

Also, the crib information from Robyn did make me feel a momentary twinge of guilt for being so hard on her! I don't know what her babies slept in, but my mom always says how she didn't have a crib for me, either. What my mom means is a regular full-size crib. She had one of those portable ones.

    ReplyDelete
  61. Of course this show is scripted- TLC must be working some serious overtime planning outings, vacations, etc. hoping that Kody & wives will appear somewhat functional on tv. Too bad it's not working. Maybe the next outing could be a trip to Victoria's Secret to go shopping for modest underwear?

    ReplyDelete
  62. Lindsey - i was using the term PPD loosely based on Christine's words that she said she gets it each time. and yet this is the first time she's had to go on meds. in other words, i don't think she had to go on the meds for PPD but actually for the stress/depression of not wanting to move as well as Robyn' taking her "specialness" away. THat along w/normal baby blues (that she's actually calling PPD) i think is what put her over the top this time.

Hope that clears it up better where i was actually coming from.

    ReplyDelete
  63. re: reality shows not being scripted. when the writer's strike happened, the reality shows were instantly on hiatus along with all the other dramas/sitcoms. game shows/talk shows continued without interruption. 'nuff said.

    ReplyDelete
  64. Wait a minute wait a minute, I just had a lightbulb moment.

In the show, Robyn says that when she was looking at this house she "looked at this room and thought of it as a baby room."

I got ten bucks that says it is because she was ALREADY PREGNANT and they've been lying this whole time about when they got preg and when Solomon was even born (remember his "newborn" pics where he looked 2 weeks old?)

    ReplyDelete
  65. Anon 2:06 - I can agree with that. (I'm a little sensitive to people calling PPD just the "baby blues". I used to think PPD was something that drama llamas dreamed up, but now I know how horrible and real PPD is.)

I agree, I think she is using PPD as an excuse to explain why she was having such a hard time coping, in the same way Meri was using the 'investigation' as a reason she is struggling. (and we all know the investigation was a non-issue, no matter what the Browns keep saying)

All of the three original wives have been really struggling emotionally since the series began and Robyn entered the picture-- the weight gain is just a physical symptom of it. (and I think this also is apparent with some of the teen girls too)

Yet they will blame the problems on anything other than their polygamist lifestyle. They are all in really deep denial imo and nothing will get better as long as that is the case.

  67. I don't think Robyn was pregnant when looking for a home but I'm sure she was hoping to get pregnant. And, she didn't say this would be the last either. I think each wife has their way of "sticking it" to the others. Robyn's way this time was to have a baby. Is not using birth control part of their religion like the Duggar's? If not then they should stop complaining they don't know how they are going to pay their bills. FOUR HOUSES! I couldn't afford the rent never mind all the other expenses.

I want to know in the future what happened to all of them when TLC dumps them....and TLC will.

I think that is why they are grasping at any business opportunity they can get, now, before the show is over. Let's be honest, no one would be interested in going in business with them without this show. They really have nothing to offer.

I think Robyn was definitely hoping to get pregnant as soon as she could and I wouldn't be surprised if she keeps getting pregnant every time she thinks the spotlight is fading from her.

  69. If all this is scripted, (going off program here) you r telling me that Kate berated John on command? I think she's just a big "B".

  70. I don't think the dialogue is scripted- just the settings and scenarios for different scenes. I'm sure TLC cringes as much as we do when Robin's frontal lobe starts generating words of wisdom!

Ha! No, Kate's nature wasn't scripted, but the show made the most of it, didn't they.

What happens is the producers set up situations which they know will elicit strong responses that make good TV. Like the Sister Wives visiting the Vegas strip, they weren't there of their own volition. Kate Goss, too, was thrown into planned (and paid for) activities that brought out her lovely nature.

It is not beyond Reality TV scripters to stoke the fires and promote discussions that will cause drama. For instance, how exactly did Christine find out that Kody kissed Robyn while C was giving birth? Could have happened honestly, sure, but Reality scripters have been known to push bits of information like that and then stand back while someone else takes the blame while the cameras roll.

I wouldn't let my family anywhere near a reality show. Even if the players make money, like Kody or Kate Goss, they are being used in really horrible ways.

As much as I dislike them, the Duggars do play the game their own way. Michelle's uterus is a freaking clown car for the cameras, but they really do control their message beautifully. They don't lie and the producers take advantage of them less than most reality TV participants. Kody and the Sister Wives don't have the savvy for it.

Exactly. The shows are scripted in that they manipulate "reality" by placing the people in chosen situations and then allow the drama to unfold as it will.

    It's not reality at all.

It reminds me of when the show "Survivor" first aired. I thought, "People on an island with camera crews and producers? That isn't surviving. Drop people off in a remote area with nothing but the clothes on their back and a few hand held cameras and see who shows up six months later-- THAT would be surviving"

  73. The thing that I noticed from the babysitting episode was that the only kids that got 1 on 1 time were Robyn's and then he took them home. He was too busy yelling at his own kids.

And then, when he was saying that he needed the special chair to hold Solomon and rock him to sleep, I was thinking about how he never does that with Truely. It's sad, really.

    ReplyDelete
  74. I also thought - why isn't he with Truely. He should have stayed with her at that house and asked Mariah to babysit Ronbyn's 2 kids (isn't it only 2 since she tossed one over to Mary's house anyways???)

Also, What would have possessed Kody to ask, "Did you have a crib before?" If he
    a. didn't already know
    b. this really wasn't scripted.

Odd question if he didn't know.

    ReplyDelete
  75. I'm just waiting for Christine to bring in a brother husband for Kody.Wonder if he'll still be babbling about "love should be multiplied...?

    ReplyDelete
  76. Odd question indeed. that's when they piss me off. Poor Robyn....

    ReplyDelete
  77. @anonymous 4:58 He basically just left Truely. I would have at least hoped that he would have helped get her to bed. The thing is, though, that he's probably like a stranger to her, which is sad.

My husband always says these shows are scripted and to a point, I think they are. I mean, I don't think there's a whole script, or anything, but they definitely plan things out and offer "suggestions".

    ReplyDelete
  78. Did they have to go shopping at the consignment furniture store cause Robyn didn't get enough items bought on her gift registry she put out to all her fans? ;')

    ReplyDelete
  79. Didn't she say also early on or drop a strong hint to the other wives that she'd also never been given a baby shower? Surely if that has happened, she'd been tweeting about it or advertising it to her FB fans.

Or did they decide to have a Pampered Chef party instead? lol

    ReplyDelete
  80. I'm sure TLC manipulates a lot of what happens on the show. A new nursery at Robyn's house? I wouldn't put it past them to plant the baby furniture in the furniture store. And I imagine the TLC set designer planned and decorated the baby's room. Some of those decorations did not look child or baby friendly and I don't believe that Robyn picked them out.

    ReplyDelete
  81. Anne - yes, they use birth control. Robyn said herself on last night's show that she didn't know if she'd ever have any more children cause she'd already purposely stopped having them after her third one in her first marriage. And she also said when she was first pregnant w/Solomon that "Kody and I decided we finally could have a baby now." So, i don't think those two little rabbits were being abstinent those first few newly married months. ;')

    ReplyDelete
  82. Do they take all the bits from each religion that they want to incorporate into their lives/religion? They seem to make it up as they go along. Lol

    ReplyDelete
  83. i've been using the word "scripted" loosely all along as in there's a scripted scenario and logistics pre-planned, etc. Never thought someone would actually think they were given lines to learn each week! At the same time, it's also not a "fly by the seat of your pants and let's hope that's good enough" ad lib risky either. Remember - this is entertainment and needs drama to keep the ratings up and the advertisers paying.

but as many years as "reality" shows have been going on now, I'm honestly shocked that there's anyone left who hasn't received the memo by now that Yes, they're all scripted! (again - the loose meaning of scripted.)

    ReplyDelete
  84. @ Border Collie LMAO

Maybe she spent $1,000 at Victoria's Secret and then she figured out how babies are made and THEN needed a crib.

Robyn is so manipulative it makes me sick. Hello! Bankruptcy is public!

  85. I actually think these women are lucky to have all this at their disposal- home, personal workout trainer, etc. As they say, they CHOSE the life of sharing a man, so why be depressed and Bitch?

    ReplyDelete
  86. She had a couple of showers.
AND YES, the show is "Scripted" to a degree. DUH, even they have said so. They know when they are coming and what points they want to bring out...

  88. So many great thoughts here. If you asked a question and someone didn't answer, please ask again.
As far as them financing it, Kody stated they were bringing in investors. A common thing for stars to represent something, but not pay for it, get paid FOR doing the promo.

    ReplyDelete
  89. First show...did I sleep through it?
Second show- As much as I dislike this, I must say...Kody is a better entertainer. He just is. I can see, he will get his own show. Not that I like him, but he has a much higher likeability factor. People are TIRED of the wivs moaning. Got what you asked for. And now, living better than ever! Forget him!

    ReplyDelete
  90. @Wendy BINGO Of course nobody wants them except for their connection with the show. The poor trainer, as you say, can't get 20lbs off the whole lot of them in 2 months. No show for the name value and advertising, no bucks from investors, no help from trainer.

BTW, from my pov, the nursery looked nice. I hate winnie the pooh and kick dirt on all things pooh related, backwards.

    ReplyDelete
  91. I didn't care for the nursery. Plain brown curtains were not cheery. JMO.

Hey, everyone's right. between their DETOXing and their free gym goodies, that's the most the gals could pound off?
I read , was it here, a trainer say what about the food. Obviously, they are still pounding it down well.
Look abt at the 18:07 mark for those that tape. KODY has to be curling his hair, I am telling ya.

    ReplyDelete
  92. Anony 8:26 - she had two showers and yet still needed a crib and a changing table? people would normally pool $$ together to get you something basic like that. and it's not like she went and got brand new anyway.

ok, so we now know the whole point of this show was so it could end with po' little sad Robyn never had a crib for 3 kids (but she's not exactly sure if it was from lack of money or lack of room) and now thanks to Kody he made it possible for this kid of theirs to have one cause ALL of Kody's babies have cribs.

but this is probably the first kid besides the first 3 firstborns w/the other 3 wives to HAVE HIS OWN ROOM! Kody's last baby slept in his bedroom w/mama Christine. and probably still does.

    ReplyDelete
  93. Why I notice these things, I'll never know.

When they are all at Meri's discussing the Fitness Center, it looks as if she has the couch she originally wanted in the LR.

    ReplyDelete
  94. yeah, that's been observed a few other times already in other episodes. but good eye, Polig Fig.

  95. Is anyone else annoyed by how they acted all prudish when they were on Freemont Street.....they seemed so shocked and offended...yeah right - first of all ladies- it's freakin' Vegas....and secondly....you ALL sleep with the SAME man...obviously unprotected sex (umm....EWWWW!) every 4th night...and seeing a stripper makes you so uncomfortable? Come on...I am sooooo not buying it! I think Kody has a certain likeability.....but the whole "holier than thou" attitude by the ladies is just plain annoying....and FAKE!

    ReplyDelete
  96. Nancy, why would Robyn act surpised? she's WORN plenty of that stuff from Victoria's secret!LOL

  97. Am i the only one that looks at Dancing Girl on the Bar and thinks, "that's gotta be an incredibly hard job to come and do each day?" i mean, she did look kinda bored. and i'm sure she has to hear some completely stupid and vicious comments night after night. How much fun can it be to dance by yourself song after song? What about when you get some kind of muscle or stomach cramps but just gotta dance through them anyway? I wouldn't want my daughter doing that just based on it looks incredibly hard to psyche yourself up to go to work every day. Hope she makes damn good $$ for it. I think it's a helluva way to have to pay your rent and maybe she's paying for college, too. Maybe she is a single mom. Maybe this is her second job.

Why aren't these 4 "Christian" women thinking the way I am?

    Anyway, she has my respect!

    ReplyDelete
  98. Anon 9:03 -

Couldn't agree more. I'd find the job of dancing in the street excruciating. If I knew the girl, I'd give her strong financial planning advise - don't throw that easy money away. But she is working. It's a job.

My opinion of the sex/dancing trades has always been that more of these women should be millionaires or at least union protected. Instead, they are treated like interchangeable auto-parts. The blanket condemnation of people like the Sister Wives isn't helping.

    ReplyDelete
  99. Plot, I love your comments.

The Browns should know a thing or two about glass houses and throwing stones, no? They illustrate their hypocrisy in every single episode.

    ReplyDelete
  100. No pooling of money to buy a crib for the baby shower.....no friends? Maybe their neighbors don't really like them just tolerate them? Maybe they are the neighborhood joke?

    ReplyDelete
  101. I'll bet the idea for this program was a brain fart of Kody's too CASH in. Too bad the women are falling apart. All the women with the exception of Janelle (at times) seems to hang off Kody's every word. He ain't that appealing....verbally or visually.

    ReplyDelete
  102. Catherine not always so greatNovember 22, 2011 at 7:36 PM

Plot - I agree - these dancing girls need a little more respect. Most (I believe) are just doing a job and unfortunately many fall pray to abusers.

I like your idea that they should have unions!

    ReplyDelete
  103. Sigh....I thought the show was so much better before Robyn. The women appeared happier, I liked seeing how they lived in that one big house, the kids seemed happier. Meri & Christine seemed to get along nicely too. I can't imagine what could have possessed Meri to suggest bringing Robyn in. I agree with whoever said "They will blame everything else on their depression except their own lifestyle" - how to do stomach knowing your "husband" is sleeping with 3 other women?? And what woman would want to be after the 1st when there are no legal protections ie: alimony, support etc. I like this family a lot but now I find myself feeling more sorry for them. I suffered from PPD 27 years ago, I should have been medicated, but back then it was called the "blues" (of course by a male dominated medical authority). I credit my loving husband with helping me through it - poor Christine - can't even imagine suffering that on her own. When will these women finally see the reality of this situation? A loving God does not favor the male or ask a female to be subservient. Perhaps being more exposed to mainstream thinking will spark something in them.
